I have a 2005 GMC Envoy XL with the 5.3 liter V8. The front two exhaust manifold bolts on the passenger side were snapped off, leading to the infamous ticking noise. I’d gotten estimates of up to $2000 to repair this correctly, and install a new manifold with bolts. Luckily, I found these repair kits. I ordered both the KAP Single and KAP 169 to substitute for my missing front bolts. I talked with John Monday morning, and they arrived Wednesday.

I’m somewhat mechanical, but I’m certainly no mechanic. I can do things like brakes jobs, water pumps, etc. I can say that these repair kits are very sturdy, but the published installation times were extremely optimistic, at least for me. From start to finish, it took me about 5 hours to install both clamps. This isn’t a slight towards the design or quality of the kits. It’s just that there is simply NO spare room under the hood. I had to remove a TON of stuff, and even then, barely had room for my hands and tools to do the job.

Anyway, I finally got everything pretty much back together, but there was simply no way I was going to be able to screw my oil dipstick back to the block. I hurriedly cleaned my Tools and put them up, and Fast Oranged my hands. I’m thrilled to say that my exhaust leak has been fixed with these ingenious repair kits.

I’d like to point out that Kral came up with these parts, and a couple big companies have stolen the idea. As a fellow small business (gun store) owner, that rankles me to no end. I buy from “Mom and Pop” shops whenever I can.

I ordered kap 169 and installed and ended up also needing kap single. I am very please. Took me about 40 minutes to still with wrenches as I’m in the process of moving and all my tools were inaccessible. I saw that a few big companies have also made these and I could of got them same day from my local parts store but I like to give credit where credit is due I will order from kral for everything related to this. Waiting for a decal to be released 🙂

I purchased the KAP Single due to a broken exhaust manifold bolt for the passenger side of my 2015 GMC SIERRA. It worked perfectly. No more high pitched noise or exhaust fumes in the cab. I highly recommend this product.
