I must say I’m surprised I’m the first to review this product. It is a life saver! I had a bolt break on my 06 Silverado while removing the factory manifolds and right away I knew I was in trouble. The bold broke about 1/8 of an inch inside the head and even better it was the drivers rear where it’s near impossible to reach. There was no drilling the bolt out with the cylinder head still on the motor. As I looked for quick fixes I’m glad I came across this product. I watched a few videos and gave them a call. I believe I spoke with Jim directly who was very helpful and reassured me their product would work even with my soon to be installed headers. I told Jim how urgent my matter was with my truck being my only vehicle and the fact that I needed to get a fast fix so I could head home which was in another state. Jim even went out of his way to find the cheapest and fastest shipping arrangements for me so I could get it next day. It arrived before noon the next day and I had it on and I was able to go home that afternoon. That alone speaks for itself. Genius product. Excellent customer service. Tried and true! Not to mention MADE IN THE USA!! Big thanks!!

Worked great .you guys should custom bend a ratchet wrench that bends around the head.offer it for sale .it was really tight for my big hands.

Amazing product!! Can’t believe how well these work, use a ratchet wrench, makes it a lot easier on the drivers side, not even worth the risk of drilling the bolts out for the price of the kits a++++++++

Awesome product. Saved me the $900 my local exhaust shop wanted to get the broken studs out. On a 2004 2500HD 6.0, the brackets went in much easier than I thought. I already had the fenderwells out, but the front passenger took all of 5 minutes, and the rear driver took maybe 15. I barely fit in a size XL glove, and still had a relatively easy time doing it by using ratcheting wrenches. It would be a good idea to have air so you can blow out the holes before and after you are “re-tapping” them. It helps getting all of the extra mud and stuff out.

On the driver’s rear, I put the bottom bolt in first, and then twisted the bracket up with the top bolt inserted.

Great product! This is an awesome alternative to replacing the broken bolts if you can even get them out. I drove around a long time listening to that exhaust leak everytime I started my 1500HD. I can’t believe I waited so long to fix it since your brackets installed so quickly. Just takes a little patience getting the drivers side rear one done. A 24″ extention with a universal swivel works great for getting the lower bolt in from underneath the truck.

    On a 2007 Yukon Denali
Fitted both bolts in thru the top.Getting the ground strap 15 mm bolt loose was a chore, used a 3/8 crowfoot ratchet attachment.Get a stubby 17 mm ratchet wrench , you’ll need it to tighten the bolts .I tried to fit bottom bolt from below but could not get it with long extensions.
It was a task, but it’s easier than taking the manifold off to remove the broken stud.
    Great product,fast shipping.

I have a 2005 GMC Envoy XL with the 5.3 liter V8. The front two exhaust manifold bolts on the passenger side were snapped off, leading to the infamous ticking noise. I’d gotten estimates of up to $2000 to repair this correctly, and install a new manifold with bolts. Luckily, I found these repair kits. I ordered both the KAP Single and KAP 169 to substitute for my missing front bolts. I talked with John Monday morning, and they arrived Wednesday.

I’m somewhat mechanical, but I’m certainly no mechanic. I can do things like brakes jobs, water pumps, etc. I can say that these repair kits are very sturdy, but the published installation times were extremely optimistic, at least for me. From start to finish, it took me about 5 hours to install both clamps. This isn’t a slight towards the design or quality of the kits. It’s just that there is simply NO spare room under the hood. I had to remove a TON of stuff, and even then, barely had room for my hands and tools to do the job.

Anyway, I finally got everything pretty much back together, but there was simply no way I was going to be able to screw my oil dipstick back to the block. I hurriedly cleaned my Tools and put them up, and Fast Oranged my hands. I’m thrilled to say that my exhaust leak has been fixed with these ingenious repair kits.

I’d like to point out that Kral came up with these parts, and a couple big companies have stolen the idea. As a fellow small business (gun store) owner, that rankles me to no end. I buy from “Mom and Pop” shops whenever I can.

    Thanks!

    FIVE STARS

I installed this nearly two months ago and have been pleased with the results. Depending on how wiry you are, it could be difficult to install, but there were great directions to help one through this. I didn’t need to disconnect some of the items that were suggested, so your installation time will vary. I did have a couple of engine codes that disappeared after I installed this product. Much better option than the $1000 the mechanic estimated it would cost to extract the old bolts; and he was confident that the new bolts would fail over time. This is an ingenious product, the videos and information are helpful, and it provided a reasonable solution to my problem.

All these years…. I thought the clicking noise on my ’02 5.3 at cold start was the infamous “piston slap”. After finding an article on a GM truck forum, I inspected my truck and found the drivers rear exhaust bolt sheared off. Installed the kit and the noise was gone. What an amazing fix for the price! Aside from a few bloody knuckles, I couldn’t be happier.

Kap 169 works! Damn GM bolts suck! It was not easy to get on but got it done. Did not have to remove anything for it to fit. 2006 GMC Sierra Z71 5.3L Thanks Kralautoparts.

When I googled manifold clamps, the Dorman knockoff of the Kral part came up first, but so glad I kept looking. The Kral part is far superior in design with the big frog foot hold down bolt where the Dorman has just a regular bolt end doing the hold down. Installation on my 2005 Yukon took a while because of the 1 1/4 inch clearance to work between the engine block and the firewall. Solved the problem by buying 2 additional longer 10mm bolts and nuts and cutting the heads off the bolts to make studs. Put both nuts on the stud finger tight together to give me some purchase on the stud to screw it into the block. After both studs were installed, it was pretty simple to hang the clamp on the studs and twirl on the nuts and tighten it all up. Works like a charm and saved me more than $800 to have the engine pulled to get the broken bolt out. I’ll just keep an eye on the hold down bolt and retorque occasionally to keep it nice and tight. Thanks, Kral.

KAP 169 works fantastically. I installed on a “2000” GMC 6.0 2500 4X4. Drivers side rear. I was able to start both of the bolts from above and then tighten one of them from the top and the other from underneath. All without removing anything. I used a box end wrench and was only able to move it a little at a time, but got it done. Best part is no more tick, tick, tick, tick. Totally worth a few scrapped knuckles and $34.65. I rarely write reviews, but I would 100% recommend giving this a try before spending big bucks to change stud. In full disclosure I have thin hands, if you have huge mitts it be not be as easy.
